My love for fitness and sport started at a young age and I was fortunate enough to earn an athletic scholarship to play for the University of Utah Women's Soccer Team from 1998-2001.  GO UTES! While playing soccer I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and in 2005 earned a master’s degree in Exercise Sport & Science. I have spent over 10 years coaching crossfit to a population of broad skill level and age demographic. Anyone can do Crossfit!

I am a firm believer in functional fitness and the multitude of benefits it offers the human body.  My passion in building strong communities around group fitness comes from a very authentic place.  It has not only changed my own personal life it has also given me the opportunity to help others achieve their fitness goals and promote a growth mindset.

When I created PURE Fitness one of my focal points was to build a culture for people to feel supported, guided, and motivated in reaching their full potential as an athlete and human being.

It is truly, enduring the process, and becoming the best version of yourself.

I've had an extreme passion for sport and movement since I was very young. Growing up, I played just about every sport until I narrowed my focus to soccer and track and field in high school and continued on to play Div. I played soccer at Saint Mary’s College of California, where I earned my B.A. in Kinesiology, Sport Management.

My real passion for health and fitness began in college where I experienced firsthand the positive effects strength and conditioning had on my performance on the soccer field. It was in that time I discovered Crossfit and was immediately drawn to the idea of competing in the sport of fitness. I soon came to realize the logic in the methodology for helping people lead healthier lives. My favorite part of coaching Crossfit now, is helping others realize that they are so capable of anything they put their mind to, and help them be happier, healthier and fitter in the process.

I pursued my CFL1 in 2015 and began coaching and doing individual training at that time. I now have my CFL2, USAW L1 and spent a year being mentored on sport specific, individual program design. Along with coaching at PURE, I am a 1-on-1 Coach for Brute Strength online training programs where I get to coach athletes spread all over the world.

My fitness journey began when another journey was ending, this is where I found my passion shifting from 8 years of competitive snowboarding to fitness. In that time of competitive snowboarding I incurred some injuries that required physical therapy.  I was amazed to see how strength training in the gym translated to the increase of board control.

In 2010 I turned my full attention to personal training/programming. I found Crossfit in this time. I was intimidated to walk into the gym that first day, but I am so glad I did. Crossfit has had a huge impact on my life ever since. I obtained my NSCA certification and went on to complete my Crossfit L1-Certification. I have been coaching for 11 years and some of my favorite movements to coach are the Olympic lifts. They take a special amount of practice, patience and skill to execute well.

I love Crossfit because it is inclusive and personal, challenging you both mentally and physically.  It will remind you that you can do hard things. It will improve your sport of choice.  It builds GRIT in a person. Those benefits plus countless more transcend into daily life. What I love MOST  is the community. The support that comes from our group classes.  There is nothing like it. You can only understand it if you step into the gym and experience it yourself.

On a more personal note: My husband and I grew up in Utah. We love to travel with our 3 kids. Specifically to the beach. In the winter you can find us all up on the mountain snowboarding. We have a dog named Cove.

“The goal is just to get fit, make it the best hour of your day, stay safe, turn up the music, high five some people, and blow off some steam. So remember that. Relax. Have fun. Work out.” Pat Sherwood

I found crossfit back in 2011 after signing up to run a marathon and realizing I was ill-prepared to successfully do so. With only about 4 months to train, I was walking by a gym when I decided to stop in and check things out. After 9 years as an athlete and 8 years as a coach, I'm still just as excited about getting to the gym and moving around a bit as I was 9 years ago when I had a marathon to prepare for!

I moved to SLC with my wife to more conveniently access all that the mountains have to offer. From skiing to hiking to backpacking to skinning up Millcreek Canyon, if it keeps me moving, you’ll likely find me doing it. Growing up, I played many sports; but it was soccer that took me through college and kept my interest into adult leagues.

I have completed both the CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 courses as well as the Aerobic Capacity course. I am detail oriented in my coaching and am always looking for opportunities to help other athletes improve and move more efficiently. Though I appreciate any and all movement, I have a special affinity towards  coaching gymnastics.

I'd love the opportunity to work with you on any fitness goals you may have.

Since a young age I've always been active and into sport. Growing up in Costa Rica playing soccer is an absolute must, but my main competitive sport was always basketball.

Shortly after I finished playing basketball I found Crossfit (In 2016) and a new passion commenced. I was a member of a gym back home for nearly 2 years before moving back to the US. The first thing I did was go sign up for a membership at the nearest box. No later than 6 months later, the head coach approached me about interning and potentially coaching. I fell in love with coaching instantly.

I got my CFL1 early 2019 and started coaching full time. Almost 5 years later I currently have my CFL3, Precision Nutrition L1 and am a Certified Personal Trainer as well. My love for coaching has only grown since that first day.
